Sharon Duffy

d. October 30, 2013

On October 30th Sharon was wrapped lovingly in the arms of all of her family and friends that went before her and escorted to the first tee, ready to be the champion she was here with all of us. She was predeceased by her infant son Ryan, her parents Tom and Jan Gavigan and in-laws, Tom and Aldona Duffy. She is survived by her best friend and soul mate Ernie, her children Sean and Shannon and her grandson Isaac, all who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother Tim and sister Susie (Gary) and their children, Ryan, Kristen and Corey and great-niece Reilly, brother-in-law Paul Duffy (Brenda) and children, Travis and Taylor and so many other dear cousins, relatives and all her golf buddies who have become like family to us. Sharon left her mark on this earth with her beaming Irish smile and personality that lit up the room and touched all who crossed her path. Sharon is a retired employee of Levene, Gouldin and Thompson, a 1971 graduate of Maine-Endwell High School and a graduate of Broome Community College. She was an amazing athlete and was an avid golfer, who was past club champion at IBM and Endwell Greens. Her passion for golf extended to a benefit “Golf for Sharon” where all proceeds went to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all who have supported her and our family through her courageous battle the last two years, Roswell Park, Broome Oncology, all the Doctors and Nurses and especially her large network of friends at Levene, Gouldin and Thompson and Endwell Greens.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Father Charles Opondo-Owora will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 10 am until service time at 1 pm. Expressions of sympathy in Sharon’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His Hand. Amen.
