Sophie L. Blazavich, 93, a longtime resident of Endicott who spent her later years in Vestal, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family, on March 21, 2026.

Sophie’s family was the heart of her life—God’s most precious blessing and the legacy she leaves behind. She is survived by her daughters Deanna Tanner (North Carolina) and Andrea (Vince) Sorrentino (Endwell); her sons Michael (Lori) Blazavich and David (Kelly) Blazavich, both of Endicott; grandchildren Ricky Blazavich, Josh Tanner, Samantha (John) Frieser, Brittney (Jason) Barauskas, Brianna (Mike) Policki, Shannon (Matt) Ferraro, and Derek (Anna) Blazavich; great-grandchildren Ella, Zoe, Sophia, Gabriella, Nicolas, Ben, Peyton; great-great-grandchildren Braxton, Blakelynn, and Ryland; her sister Irene (Ray) Everett; sister-in-law Mary Blazavich; and several nieces and nephews who thought the world of her.
Sophie grew up in a small town near Indiana, Pa, where she met her beloved husband. They built their first home there and had five children before moving to Endicott, NY, where they eventually built their second home. In addition to raising five children, she enjoyed golfing, bowling, and playing cards. She worked at Amphenol Cadre for many years before retiring. Sophie was known by many as a fantastic host and party planner. No matter what the occasion was, she was spot on with location, decor and especially food! If you knew her, I guarantee you had some of her famous Polish dishes and fudge. Sophie cherished her family’s Christmas Eve traditions, which remain a treasured part of their lives to this day. The moments that brought her the greatest joy were those spent with her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren who put a smile on her face like no other.
Sophie’s life was a beautiful reflection of her faith. A devoted Catholic, she attended Mass every Sunday for as long as her health permitted. She was her family’s “prayer warrior” who had a direct line to God. She faithfully prayed the rosary each day, keeping a rosary or cross always within reach, and found comfort in her quiet conversations with God. Sophie’s gentle spirit and steadfast faith have now found eternal peace with the Lord. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love will remain a guiding light for her family.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Elderwood, her final home, where she found comfort, compassionate care, and cherished friendships.
