Thomas “Tom” Walsh

Thomas C. Walsh, 82, formerly of Vestal, NY and most recently St. Petersburg, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Tom is survived by his devoted sons, daughter-in-law and son-in-law Thomas P. and Christine Walsh, Albany NY, Timothy J. Walsh and Jeffrey Williams, New York City; and one granddaughter, Emily Walsh; his sisters-in-law Elsie and Jeanne Walsh, Mary Lou Colangelo and Ann Clicquennoi; many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years Patricia J. Walsh and brothers Joseph and William Walsh, brothers-in-law Joseph Colangelo and Roger Clicquennoi. He was born in Scranton, PA and raised in Dunmore, PA by his father Joseph F. Walsh and mother Elizabeth Walsh. Tom graduated from the Scranton Preparatory school and trained with the Jesuit Society in Wernersville, MD. He completed his BA and MA at Fordham University. Tom studied and served in the Jesuit Community for over 8 years prior to becoming a public school teacher. Tom taught at Loyola High School in Baltimore, MD as well as the Brandywine Heights High School in Topton, PA prior to moving to Vestal, NY. He married the love of his life Patricia Walsh in 1963 starting a partnership based on love and respect that leaves family and friends in awe to this day. He was an employee of the Vestal Central School District, retiring after over 30 years of teaching high school English literature and composition. A lover of the written word, he could be found reading, playing the piano, spending time with family, friends, and students; he will be sorely missed. Tom had a deep and rewarding spiritual life with God and was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church for over 50 years.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 9:30 am at Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, and 10 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal. The family will receive friends at Allen Memorial Home Thursday between 4-7 pm.
