Ward J. Guilfoyle

Ward John “Jack” Guilfoyle, 94, of Apalachin, New York, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026. He could think of no greater gift than being reunited with his beloved wife of 67 years, Maude, on his birthday.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Maude Jones Guilfoyle, parents Ward F. Guilfoyle and Catherine M. Reardon, brothers Robert (Mary) Guilfoyle and David (Bonnie) Guilfoyle, and brothers-in-law James Gibbs, Robert Jones, and Richard (Norma) Jones.

He is survived by his daughters Susan (David) Bailey, Laura Pless, and Amy (Aaron) Race, grandchildren Dr. Allison (Kevin Gillard) Bailey, Dr. Amanda Pless, Andrew (Loriel Murphy) Pless, Christopher (Jessica) Bailey-Tyler, Matthew (Michelle) Bailey, and SrA Ethan Race, sister Anne Gibbs, and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School (Class of 1951), an Army veteran who served in Germany during the Korean Conflict and attended Harpur College. He was a loving and devoted father, an Agent for Prudential Insurance, and retired after many years of service in Communications and Special Activities with IBM Endicott and Owego. He was a member of the Park Terrace Community United Methodist Church and volunteered for their weekly community Food Pantry.

Jack had a zest for life, performing in local musical theater productions, appearing as a one-day champion on Jeopardy, traveling with his wife and friends, and enjoying many family vacations. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generous spirit, and being a “Girl Dad” before it was a thing.

Jack and Maude’s ashes will be interred in a private family ceremony. The family thanks the caring staff at United Methodist Homes.
