In Loving Memory of Wayne Paul Shattuck
April 24, 1949 – October 13, 2026

Wayne Paul Shattuck, affectionately known to his family and friends as “Wayner,” passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 77. He leaves behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a legacy of generosity that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Wayne worked for Grand Union for 35 years and Price Chopper for 15 years. At both places, he met a lot of his lifelong friends.

Wayne lived for others. His heart was as big as his personality, and the word no did not exist in his vocabulary. Whenever someone needed help, he was there. Whenever someone needed a friend, he showed up. If someone he loved needed anything, he would do whatever he could to make it happen. Giving of himself came naturally to Wayne, and he never expected anything in return. His greatest joy was knowing that the people he loved were happy, cared for, and supported.

Above all, Wayne was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 48 years, ‘or in Wayne’s words, 148 wonderful years of marriage.’ Their life together was built on love, commitment, and cherished memories. He was a loving father to his son, William, and daughter, Victoria, and future son-in-law, Chad, and nothing brought him greater pride than his family. He was also a cherished uncle, brother-in-law, and loyal friend who touched many lives through his kindness, humor, and willingness to help others.

Wayne took great pride in being a grandfather to Cole, Cameron, and Carson. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and the memories they shared with him will remain a treasured part of their lives. To his nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, and friends, Wayne was someone they could always count on, a steady presence, a helping hand, and a person whose love was unconditional.

Wayne was predeceased by his beloved parents, Ralph and Hermelinda Shattuck, and his brothers, Rudy and Alan Shattuck. "Make sure my room is clean, Mom; your baby is coming home." He is survived by his loving nephews John and his wife, LeeAnn; Tom and his wife, Nina; Mark and his wife, Jennifer; and Alan and Corey Shattuck, along with his great-nephews and great-nieces, Jonathan, Joseph, Nicole, Lindsey, Jake, Martino, Francisco, Patrick, and Corey Jr.

He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Mary Powers, and her husband, Glen; his nieces, Jessica Hinkel and her husband, Jeff, and Crystal Kochis and her husband, Matt; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Hailey and Anthony. His sister-in-law, Agnes Shattuck-Dekar, and Penny Shattuck also survive him, as do many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know and love him. He also leaves behind his beloved four-legged children and grandchildren, Bailey, Moxley, Xypher, and MewMew.

Those who knew Wayne will remember a man who gave freely, loved deeply, and never hesitated to put others before himself. He had a special way of making people feel important, welcomed, and cared for. His legacy will be measured not by what he owned or accomplished, but by the countless lives he improved simply by being part of them.

Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the love Wayne gave so generously will never be lost. It lives on in his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and everyone is fortunate enough to call him husband, father, uncle, brother-in-law, or friend.

Wayne was truly one of a kind. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, show up whenever you needed him, and remind you through his actions what it truly means to love someone. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and loved always.

Rest peacefully. Thank you for a lifetime of love, generosity, and memories that will never fade. Your spirit will live on in all of us, and you will never be forgotten.
