William "Bill" Zimmer, 87, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, in Binghamton, New York, with loved ones by his side. Born on July 25, 1938, in Endicott, New York, Bill lived a full and meaningful life that left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Bill dedicated much of his career to IBM before retiring to enjoy his passions and spend time with his beloved wife, Merle Zimmer. Together, they discovered a shared love for woodworking, crafting beautiful pieces that they sold to appreciative customers. Their partnership extended beyond the workshop as they also worked at NASCAR events, running tents where they sold shirts and sunglasses—a testament to their adventurous spirit and teamwork.

Family was central to Bill's life. He is survived by his devoted wife Merle; his granddaughter Miranda Ward and her husband Brandon; and his cherished great-grandchildren Marvin, Beverly, and Bill². He is also remembered fondly by his brother Ed Zimmer and sister-in-law Marlene; niece Stacey Case; nephew Jason Zimmer; and numerous great-nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sons Mitchell and Garth Zimmer; his sister Barbara; and his parents Kathryn and Freman Zimmer.

Bill's warmth, dedication, and creativity will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 22, 2026, at 03:00 PM at Old Union Hotel, 246 Clinton Street, Binghamton.
