Almeda L Fiester,88, passed away peacefully March 11, 2015 at Elderwood Health Care, Waverly, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, William; daughter, Karyla; brother, Charles Jones and sister, Rita Wanck. She is survived by two daughters and sons in law; Kathryn and Carl Fitch, Raleigh NC and Kimberly and Stephen Kuhlman, Owego NY; five grandchildren, William Shattuck, Daniel Fitch, Andrew, Benjamin and Casey Kuhlman; three great grandchildren, Cole, Cameron and Carson Shattuck; one brother, Walter Jones (Nancy) and two sisters, Ruth Cordick (Dave) and Beverly Barnum (Pete). She was previously employed as the ‘Cafeteria Lady’ for Owego Elementary School System. Almeda was a lifetime member of the Women’s Auxiliary of Campville Fire Department and was one the first female firefighters in Tioga County in 1958. The family extends a special Thank You to the Elderwood facility staff for their compassionate and attentive care.
Funeral services will be held Monday 11:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the reverend William Prentice officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Monday from 10:30 am until service time at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Campville Fire Department or Campville Women’s Auxiliary, 6153 State Route 17C Endicott NY 13760.
