Amelia Palmisano

Amelia Rose Palmisano (D’Aloisio) 99, was called home to her Lord on April 8, 2023. She was born on September 5, 1923. Amelia was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary D’Aloisio; husband Fred Palmisano; brothers William, Albert, Adolph, John, Edmund and Ugo D’Aloisio; and sisters Nicoletta Cicciarelli and Florence Riccardi. Surviving Amelia are her loving children: daughters Suzanne and husband Dr. Michael Bell of Naperville, Illinois; Rebecca Borelli and her husband James of Owego; and son Daniel Palmisano and Diane Simonds of Binghamton.
Also surviving are her grandchildren Michael Jr. and Zachary Bell. Amelia leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with a good friend Angie Lesko.
Amelia worked for the Union Endicott School District and Ideal Hospital as a cook in the 1970’s and retired in 1983. She was a life-long resident of the northside of Endicott and resided in the same house for almost 100 years until her injury at home in February, 2023. Amelia credits the medical alert bracelet that she wore for twenty years in getting her the assistance she needed.
As a young widow, Amelia relied on her siblings and her strong faith as a source of strength that guided her through challenges in her life. She was an exceptional cook and baker and welcomed many to her dinner table.
In later years Amelia was legally blind yet continued to live independently. She was an avid Yankee fan and was hoping for another World Series title. Additionally, especially in her later years, Amelia enjoyed watching Chris Cuomo on CNN and listening to Bob Joseph on the local talk radio station for news. Her mind was still sharp right up to her hospital stay. Amelia faithfully attended mass at St. Anthony’s Church when able and was a life member of this O’Dell Avenue Catholic Church.
Upon retirement Amelia enjoyed a few trips to Europe with her friends and toured California with her daughter Becky and nieces Rosalie and Mary. She enjoyed “car rides” with her son Danny to the Chicago area to visit her daughter Suzanne and family.
Suzanne and Becky want to acknowledge their brother Danny’s daily visits to check on their mom, to make sure she was safe.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at church Tuesday from 9:30 am until Mass time at 10:30 am.
