Anthony (Tony) L. Cianfichi of Apalachin, New York was born in Scranton, PA on March 8, 1933 and passed away on September 19, 2016. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Anna M. (Cimino) Cianfichi of Scranton Pa., his children Gary with wife JoAnne of Delray Beach, FL, Ron and wife Terry of Fernandina Beach, FL, Lisa with her husband Stan Gross of Vestal, NY and Paul with his wife Maria of Marlborough, MA. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren; Maria, Michelle, Michael, Courtney, Rachel, Anthony and Cinzia. Tony is also survived by his sister, Ann Marie and her husband, Joe McGuire of Sayer, PA, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Albert and Ann Cimino of Dummore, PA., Elizabeth and Louis Nardella of Scranton, PA. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary (Fanelli) Cianfichi and brother-in-law, Frank Cimino, all of Scranton. Tony received his Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Scranton and his Masters of Science degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Tony retired from IBM in Owego after more than 30 years of service. He and Ann spent winters in Pompano Beach, Florida where he pursued a second career at H&R Block. He had a passion for golf, the Yankees, travel and most of all, his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Club of Vestal and the Sons of Italy in Endicott.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 10:30 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday from 9:30 am until Mass time at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the food pantry at Our Lady Of Sorrows of Vestal, New York.
