Betty Z. Gannon, 90, of Endicott, died Saturday, June 3, 2017, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband George; parents Steve and Vera Sammons and brothers in law Marshall Button and Jim Vogan. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to her family, a son Thomas, Endicott; a daughter and son in law Barbara and Rodney Kipp, Windsor; four grandchildren Jeffrey Pike, Endicott; Richard (Julie) Kipp, Vestal; Kelli and Ron Hawk, Hallstead, PA and David Kipp; several great grandchildren; her sisters Jane Button, Oceanside, CA and Colleen Vogan, Macedon, NY; several nieces; nephews and cousins including a special cousin Shirley Bowser. A special mention and thank you to Verna Titus, her health care aide for over two years. You always brightened her day. Betty worked for Endicott-Johnson Corp., retiring after 42 years of service as office manager of the retail warehouse. She was a member of the American Legion Post 82 Auxiliary and St. Joseph’s Church both of Endicott. Betty always had a great sense of humor and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. We will all have some great memories of her down the road of life.
Funeral services will be held Friday 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, Endicott at 10 am. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 4-6 pm. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Lourdes Hospice Program, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850, who helped her very much in her time of need.

youll always be in my heart, I love and miss you so very much. we had great times growing up even though I know I was a pest to you at times. remember how we would go to the jc pavilion when all the big name dance bands would come by. and you and I would dance the night away back in the day when no one questioned two females dancing together. but when the jitter bug music came on you were on your own. I could never keep up with you love you forever and always janie

Spent the last few days in Aunt Betty's home with her son Tommy & grandson Jeff which has always felt like another home for me. My Aunt was truly one of a kind and will be missed more than she could know. She welcomed into her home and cared for her father, Stephen Charles Sammons, for many years after her mother passed away. She also opened her home to her grandson, Jeffrey Pike, who was there for her in the final days of life. Blessings to you Aunt Betty and to all our family and friends who knew her. Your sister Janie's middle daughter, Cheryl. Thank you for the many happy memories from my childhood and then as an adult. The tables been cleaned, dishes are done and the Genesee is on ice.
