Camillo (Tom) Iessi, 85, of Endicott, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, January 31, 2019. He was predeceased by his loving first wife Ann Marie, infant sister Maria Biagina, and parents Carmine and Rosina. He is survived by his devoted and beloved wife Esterina (D’Angelo), cherished son Tom, his grandchildren, who were the loves of his life, Sheena and Talia Iessi and great-grandson, Dominic Randesi; dearest sister Amelina (Armando) Masciarelli; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elisa Marcucci; Nick (Evelyn) D’Angelo and Norine (Angelo) DeVincentis; also several special and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends in the US and Italy. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, and the Abruzzee Club, Binghamton. Camillo immigrated to the US at the age of 15 and began working for Dellapenna Brothers Construction, Johnson City. He retired as a foreman after 43 years of dedicated service.
Known for his generous nature and quiet demeanor, Camillo took great pleasure in opening his home to family and friends. He especially enjoyed working in his garden, spending many happy hours tending to his plants and sharing the fruits of his labors with everyone who visited. His family, both immediate and extended, was the center of his universe. He recently said that although his home was not a mansion, it gave him great joy to simply sit at the table surrounded by his family rather than travel the world. He was a humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life. His warm smile and generous spirit will be missed by all who were privileged to know and love him.
The family thanks the staff of the 3rd floor Cardiac Care Unit at UHS Wilson Hospital for the tender care and compassion shown to Camillo and his family during his stay there.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 10 am, St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott on Monday from 4-7 pm, with the Abruzzee Club will meeting at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or to St. Anthony of Padua Food Pantry.
