Cynthia C. Champaign “MomMom”, 66, of Owego crossed the finish line and won her wings at home surrounded by her loving family on October 11 2021. Through it all she never shed a tear or uttered an unkind word. She was predeceased by her mother, Louise McKane; sisters, Ruth Ness and Susan Barnum; brother’s in-law, James Barnum and Gerald Champaign; mother-in-law, Pat Champaign and her foster mom and dad, Helen and Lyndon Williamson. Cindy leaves behind her husband and the love of her life, Greg He has said many times “his greatest wish was that the rest of the world could see him through her eyes”; children, Cathleen Drake, her companion Eric, Gerald (Lori) Champaign, Twiala (Scott) Keller, Patrick Champaign, and Joseph (Melissa) Champaign; grandchildren, Madison (John) Opeil, Katie (David) Mutz, Troy Brennan, Taylor and Peyton Champaign, Joey and Austin Champaign; great grandchildren, Avery, and her namesake Ceci Opeil, also “the ladies” Stella and Klaire Mutz; brother, James McKane Jr.; sisters, Jennette Hartman and Laura (Paul) Doane.; foster brother and sisters, Jack (Gayle) Williamson, Cathy (Ed) Vargason, Jill (Dale) Quick, and Carol (Dan) Quick; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and one very special friend, Brenda (Wayne) Maree. She retired from George Industries in 2017 after 31 years as a Masker. Cindy’s main passions in life were Greg and the family they created together. She enjoyed roaring campfires, a cold beer, corn roasts in “the grove”, spirited games of ladder ball, pitch, scat and poker. Camping, the pub crawl, just 5 more games of quick draw, Tioga Downs, watching Family Feud, the New York Giants, and holding Greg’s hand… Fly high on your new wings honey. SYLLYB!!!!
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-7 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
