Dale Campfield

 Dale Campfield, 85, passed at Absolut Care in Endicott after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Campfield, brothers Lyle and Rodger Campfield and granddaughter Samantha Rose Murtha. He is survived by his wife of fifty years Therese Lee Campfield of Apalachin, NY, daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Bernard Murtha grandchildren Jessica, Erin, and Abigail Murtha of Owego, NY, sons Stacey and Michael, daughter-in-law Amanda and granddaughter Miriam of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his sister Linda LaDue and brother Russell Campfield of Windsor and Walton, NY and several nieces and nephews from extended family.  Dale was heralded as the owner/promoter  of Shangri-La Motor Speedway in Owego, NY for 15 years during its heyday and his love for auto racing lasted over 50 years and included being a competitor in both the SCCA and modified stock car racing. This successful undertaking also sparked Shangri-La Ambulance Service, which provided crucial medical transport for many high risk newborns and transplant recipients. Dale loved singing and was long-time Lead Tenor of the Tri-Cities Opera. Some of his performances such as The Barber of Seville and Die Fledermaus had people riveted and occasionally rolling in their seats.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Friday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made in his memory to the American Red Cross or the Tri-Cities Opera fund.
