Diane (Getchell) Dakin, 65, of Vestal, NY, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Beatrice Getchell, husband Leroy and a sister Carolee Tanzer. Diane is survived by her son Wayne (Julie) Dakin, Endwell, NY; grandchildren Connor, Emma and Matthew; her caregiver son Ryan, Vestal; brothers David (Mary) Getchell, Johnson City, NY; Gary (Susan) Getchell, Palatka, FL; Dennis (Heather) Getchell, Huntersville, NC and sister Denise Getchell, Vestal; along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. Diane was about family, with a huge affection for her cats Dexter, Daisy Mae and Dora. She was creative, liked difficult puzzles and bird watching. Her creativity was enjoyed by many, as she volunteered alongside her husband, setting up and decorating the Vestal Fire Department, Station 2 pancake breakfasts and Christmas parties.
Funeral Services will be held Monday 11 am at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY, with the family receiving friends from 10-11 am. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
