Deacon John and Cheryl Sims left a message on February 28, 2014:
Our fondest memory is our Ordination to the Diaconate on 9/28/1979. However, the memories of the many rides up and down 81 to Christ the King retreat house come in second. The long discussions were always lively since we were pioneers of the Permanent Diaconate. Dom use to get extremely animated about the poor treatment the future wives of deacons received. His Marriage Encounter background just couldn’t relate to women being ignored. I know he is looking down now at the 18000 US deacons we have today and we know Dom is very proud that every Deacon Formation program requires full participation of the wives. Dom and Ann’s perseverance made that happen.
