Obituary

Dorothy L. Ludington, 84, of Maine, NY passed away on January 20, 2019. Since April 2018 she was living at Hilltop United Methodist Home in Johnson City. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years George Ludington; her parents, John and Catherine Wasil; her brother Frank Wasil; her sister Stephie Mihalko; her sister Victoria Andrews; her sister Helen Radulski; her sister Emily Noonan; and her grandson David Cutler. She is survived by her daughter Renee Cutler and husband Dr. Robert Cutler and their son Benjamin Cutler of Mooresville, NC; her daughter Denise Ludington of Newark Valley; her son John Ludington of Newark Valley; her son Matthew Ludington and wife Wendi, and their children Mark and Kate of Endwell. She was dearly loved by her family and all her grandchildren. Dorothy always put God and family first in her life and dearly loved animals, especially their Shih Tzus Britty 1 and Britty 2. She was a homemaker and raised four children. She was always humble and kind. Dorothy loved angels and gave many angel mementoes to family and friends. She was a member of Most Holy Rosary Church and with the Legion of Mary gave communion to the homebound sick and hospitalized. For many years she attended daily Mass, helped at church bingo, Octoberfest, taught faith formation to second graders, was a Eucharistic Minister and crocheted over 900 prayer shawls and prayer scarfs for the sick. Dorothy went on a pilgrimage with Rev. Clarence Cerwonka of Most Holy Rosary Church and her daughter Renee Cutler to Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina where they experienced several miracles that were a gift from God.

Visitation will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, January 24 at Most Holy Rosary Church in Maine. A memorial mass will follow at 11 AM with Rev. Clarence Cerwonka officiating. A luncheon will be after the Mass at the church hall and is open to all family and friends. Interment will be held at a later date.

Thank you for letting me be your "adopted" daughter. You showed me what a loving, God fearing mother is and loved me with your kindness and respect. I will love you forever and miss you very much. Until we meet again....

Dear Aunt Dot, You were a wonderful, kind and caring Aunt. You always made me feel like a part of your family as well as my own. You and Uncle George will always live on in my memories. I love you and will miss you!

I Love you and I will miss you very much. You were more like a mom to me than my own. Thank you for showing me what a real mom was supposed to be. I was proud to be called your "adopted" daughter. Patty

To my cousins, Loved your mom like none other. She blessed and enriched the lives of every soul she touched. You each were more than blessed to have such a mom and I thank you for sharing her with us! It’s comforting to know she will continue to watch over each one of us! “Love you” Aunt Dot, give Uncle George a kiss and hug!
