Gino Roma, 83 of Endicott, NY passed away peacefully in his home on March 10, 2018. Born in Endicott to John and Mary (Franchini) Roma, he lived most of his life in Endicott. Gino is survived by his spouse Jane (Manning) Roma, children Gino (Jennifer) Roma Jr.; Gerry Roma; Catherine Roma (Steve Horowitz); grandchildren Peter, John and Abbey Roma; Nicholas and Isabella Roma; Jack and Max Horowitz; brothers Anthony Roma; Robert Roma, sisters Angie Foote; Rita Roma; Linda (Alex) Daskal, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Sam Roma; Joseph Roma; Eugene Roma and John Roma Jr., sisters Mary Zavatto, Antonette Beem, Elaine Troutman, and Marlene Stacconi. Gino was a lifelong, self-employed contractor, working well past 80. His life was about building and creating. Like his work, his personal life was about strong foundations: from tiling a bathroom or building a deck at someone’s house; to the middle sibling that acted as the grout that connected his thirteen brothers and sisters; to a father that raised three loving children; to a husband devoted to his wife whom he adored more than anything he could ever create with his hands. Whether it is in wood or plaster, flesh and bone or thoughts and memories, Gino leaves behind a legacy of determination, work ethic, grit, pride and, most of all, love. He was a force of life and he will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Gino’s Life will be held Monday 5 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Family will receive friends at the Allen memorial Home Monday from 3 pm until service time at 5 pm. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 North McKinley Avenue, Endicott, NY 13760.
