Harry W. Cahill of Endicott passed away on March 30, 2021 from a brief illness at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was 6 days short of his 85th birthday. Harry was predeceased by his parents, William Cahill and Myrtle Pulver, his brother, Matthew Cahill, his sisters Mildred Sweeney and Elinor Harrison. Harry is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Joan Cahill, his daughters Diana (Rusty) Whitcher, Barbara Cahill, Carolyn (Don) Bennett-VanHart and Christina (Robert) Horvath. His 10 grandchildren Randy (Kristy) Whitcher, Derick Whitcher, Ryan (Danielle Wright, fiancé) Whitcher, Marcie Whitcher, Amanda (Jeff) Joyner, Courtney (Eric) McDuffee, Britney Bennett, Daniel Horvath, David Horvath and Robert Horvath. His four great-grandchildren Riley Joyner, Madeline and Natalie Whitcher and Lillian Bennett. Harry served in the Army from 1955 to 1958 where he was stationed for two years in Germany. He was co-owner and co-operator of Tri-Cities Auto Electric in Endicott for over thirty years. Harry was a member of the West Endicott Fire Department where he served as Chief for five years. He also was a member of the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad and served as Captain for seven of those years. He was known as an avid outdoorsman and had served as President and was an Honorary Member of Guide Step Sportsman’s Club. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. Harry was a parishioner at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Endicott.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 10 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott, (to live streamhttps://youtu.be/A84IzTii890). Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Tuesday from 9 am until Mass time at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Harry’s memory can be made to the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, PO Box 8739, Endwell, NY 13762-8739.
