Helen “Jane” Harris

Helen Jane Harris, 88, of Endicott, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2021 and is now with her beloved Chet.
Survived by son Wayne Harris, daughters and son-in-law Melanie and Dean Linscott, LuAnn Harris, dear sister Ellen and Tom Markulin, sister in-law Myrna (Stan) Sprague, brothers-in-law Jerry (Sue) Harris, Gene Thomas and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Chester Harris; parents James and Ida Swagler, special sister-in-law Myra Thomas and many loved family members.
Jane was a devoted daughter, sister, loving wife and mother. Everyone knew Jane for her kindness and smile. She made each person feel welcome and comfortable. She met Chet walking from UE to Endwell, married him in 1953 and spent 48 years walking beside him showing Christian love in quiet acts of kindness every day. They had fun and loved to laugh. Aunt Jane adored children and they her. She freely gave out candy, treats, rides, paper hats and boats.
She loved shopping every day, crocheting, trips to the beach, entertaining family & friends at home and the lake, ice cream, her neighborhood coffee klatches, crafting with Home Bureau, yarn, flowers, did we mention shopping? She was an involved lifetime member of Whittemore Hill Church. She was selfless, courageous, the mom everyone wanted. We will miss her always but take comfort that she’s shopping with Myra and laughing with Chet.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Whittemore Hill United Methodist Church, SoSA, 1349 Whittemore Hill Road, Owego, NY 13827. Society of Saint Andrew is the charity Chet embraced to feed the hungry.
