Jane A. Pappenheimer (Mollen) (Neylan) of Vestal, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on April 17, 2016 after a short illness. Jane is survived by her children Sherry Neylan of Vestal and Robert Neylan and wife Molly (Carroll) of Paso Robles, CA; her grandchildren John Neylan of San Luis Obispo, CA and Laura Neylan of Philadelphia, PA; her sisters-in-law Anne Mollen and Thelma Williams; and her several nieces and nephews. Jane leaves behind many wonderful friends as well. She is pre-deceased by her first husband Robert Neylan and her second husband Ben Pappenheimer, by her brother Jack Mollen, by her sisters-in-law Dorothy Maloney and Jean Molstead, and by her parents Charles and Elizabeth Mollen. Jane graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. She and Robert married in 1947 and lived in both Endicott, NY, and Rochester, MN. After Robert’s untimely death in 1957, Jane returned to live in Vestal where she raised her two children while working as an administrative assistant at IBM and where she later had a satisfying career as a real estate agent. She married Ben in 1971 and they shared a wonderful life together until his death in 1992. Jane was very active – she enjoyed ballroom dancing, golf, gardening, playing cards (especially bridge), and spending time with her friends and family. Jane was a long time member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Vestal. Jane was a lifetime member of the Lourdes Hospital Auxiliary. Jane’s faith was the foundation of her life; she was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith and attended Mass as frequently as possible. The family offers sincere thanks to Sherry who was Jane’s constant companion and caregiver for several years. The family also wishes to thank Deacon Dale Crotsley and the employees of the Lourdes At Home health care team that assisted Jane over her last few months.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott Wednesday, April 20 from 5 to 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 21, at 9:30 am at the Allen Memorial Home, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 10 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jane’s memory to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endwell, NY 13760.
