Jeanne E. Whitbeck went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. For the past year she was a resident of Good Shepherd-Fairview Nursing Home in Binghamton, New York. She was born in Peckville, PA on April 26, 1929, the youngest child of Irving A. and Ethel C. Tingley. As the wife of a Baptist minister, Reverend Merle G. Whitbeck, she was a capable partner in his ministry, a reliable confidant, a loyal wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a talented seamstress. She embraced her role as a mother and homemaker-her greatest joy was being a mother to their four children. She was predeceased by her siblings Arline Smith, Rollin Tingley, Chester Tingley, and Calvin Tingley. She was also predeceased by her husband Reverend Merle G. Whitbeck and her daughter Jeanne E. Whitbeck. She is survived by her children Barbara E. (Dr. Nicholas) Balaci, Donna L. Hardy, and Dr. M. Gordon (Stacie) Whitbeck, Jr.; five grandchildren Nicole Balaci Lefton (Kevin), Bryan Balaci, Ryan Hardy (Catherine), Andrew Whitbeck, and Elizabeth Whitbeck; two great-grandchildren Caroline Lefton, Mallory Lefton. She will be warmly remembered by parishioners and community members alike in Walton, Whitney Point, and Waterloo, the towns in New York in which she partnered with her husband in his ministry and raised their family. After retiring from the ministry, Jeanne and Merle cherished their time together in Roanoke, VA. While she will be sorely missed by her family, they take great comfort in the knowledge that her future is certain-she is celebrating her homecoming in heaven with her loving husband and daughter, as well as with numerous family members and friends. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18). The family wishes to thank the staff of Good Shepherd-Fairview Home for their compassionate care for our mom.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 10 am until service time at 11 am.
