Jerry Albee, 78, of Johnson City, died at UHS Wilson Memorial Hospital Thursday, January 24th, 2019 after a sudden and aggressive illness. He was predeceased by his beloved son Christopher Albee, his parents William Albee and Miriam Albee-Mills, his brother William (Bill) Albee, and his in-laws Charles and Mary Zemek. Jerry is survived by his loving and loyal wife of 52 years Mary Jo (Zemek) Albee; his cherished daughter Heather Albee (Joseph Buonocore) Royce; dear daughter in-law Kimberley Albee; 8 grandchildren: Dominik and Sophia Royce, Joshua Albee, Mika Buonocore, Sarah Laviolette, Alyssa Buonocore, Jacob Laviolette and Cara Buonocore, sister and brother in-law Nancy and Keith Brown; brother and sister in-law Douglas and Sharon Albee; brother and sister in-law Richard and Eileen Zemek; sister in-law and brother in-law Michelle and Bryan Merry; two nieces Katie Merry (fiancé Jeremy Williams), Alexandra Merry; a nephew Nicholas Merry; his adopted family Jill Pinnola-Vizza, Joseph Pinnola-Vizza, Lydia and Julia Vizza; many close and cherished friends with whom he adored spending time, especially Wally and Dottie Benjamin, Larry and Nancy LaRose, Mike and Wanda Farrell. Jerry attended Windsor schools and graduated from Chenango Valley High school in the first graduating class. He served in the United States Army for 3 1/2 years graduating from cartography school and working as a cartographer. His unit was on alert for the Cuban and Berlin crises. Following his service, Jerry attended SUNY Broome and many management courses. He was a successful and respected manager of truck departments in numerous local dealerships, winning several New York State awards along the way. He also sold real estate in Broome County. Jerry was a member of the Antique Automobile of America Club, former member of the Iroquois Region Antique Car Club, member of Czechoslovak Morovan Club of Endicott, New York. His passions were book collecting, auctions, car shows, flea markets, and the hunt for a unique find. In addition, he was a self-educated man in numerous subjects; he became a magnet for others seeking information. Even with all his interests, nothing came before family. He was fiercely loyal and protective.
The family will receive family and friends at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street Endicott, Tuesday from 3-5 pm. A short service will follow at 5 pm.
