Jerry J. Saccoccio, 84 , of Vestal, NY. died unexpectedly at UHS Wilson Memorial Hospital on April 27, 2018. Jerry was born on April 16, 1934 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was predeceased by his parents, Jerry (Gennaro) and Emma Saccoccio and an infant brother, all of Cranston, RI., and his devoted wife Shirley of 41 years. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Saccoccio, Vestal, to whom he was married for 12 years;. his son James R. Parks, NYC; his three daughters and sons-in-laws, Angela (Michael) Fairbrother, Vestal, NY; Beverly (Scott) Otten, Thornton CO; Debra Saccoccio (Jeremy Persons) Endicott, NY. In addition, Jerry had four step children, whom he lovingly welcomed into his life with open arms: Tamara (Frank) Redden, New River AZ; Lawrence (Cynthia) Harris, Endwell, NY; David (Stephanie) Harris, Poughkeepsie, NY; Jennifer (John) West, Clearwater, FL. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Jerry retired from the U.S. Air Force after serving 23 years at posts around the world. On his return to civilian life, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Ricker College and later retired from Lourdes Hospital, where he was Director of Dietetic Services. Jerry enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and lunching out with his wife Sandy and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people smile. Some favorite times were spent riding around town and spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was a devoted husband, and loving father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
