Joan (Joanne) Tregaskis of Endicott, NY passed away on Saturday 11/12/16 after a long period of declining health. She was born on June 13, 1944 in Newark, NJ and grew up in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She located to Endicott after marriage to James D. Tregaskis in 1965. Joanne is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Madeline Carpenter Laubaugh and sister, Roberta Henry. Surviving is her husband of 51 years, James D. Tregaskis (Jim); their daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Keith Hughes and grandson Collin Hughes of Endicott, NY; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Donald Jordan of Willington, DE; brother-in-law and sister in-law William and Evelyn Tregaskis of Perkasie, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Joanne’s family and friends were her proudest assets. She enjoyed conversation and looked forward to the daily mail deliveries. Joanne held various positions in radio advertising, banking, insurance, and office administration. She was a giving person with the highlight being her volunteer work as Treasurer at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church for twenty-eight years. She also served as Church Secretary for several years. Over the years, she participated on many church leadership committees, and for many years, she enjoyed coordinating the annual church bazaar where she thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship of her friends. The success of the church was her passion, especially supporting and encouraging young people through the Sky Lake Campership program. She will be fondly missed for her dedication and love for her church family. She was known for her willingness to take on and solve difficult and challenging situations. The family would like to thank Dr. Stuart Stiles at Wilson Hospital for his heroic efforts, the attentive emergency room staff at Wilson Hospital, the responsive and caring Union Volunteer Emergency team and the support from the West Corners Fire Department. The professionalism and compassion of everyone involved in caring for her is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory and honor of Joanne to the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church Sky Lake Campership Program.
A memorial service will be held on Friday November 18, 2016 at 12:00pm at the Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, 918 Upper Front Street with Rev. Jenni Piatt officiating. Friends may greet the family at the church from 11:00am until the time of the memorial service. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
