John “Jack” Folmar

John “Jack” A. Folmar, 88, of Vestal, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Vestal Park Nursing Center Sunday, November 15, 2015. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, June, in 2009. He is survived by three children and their spouses Ricky and Cindy Folmar, Vestal; Kevin Folmar, Vestal; Judy and Tom Whitaker, Apalachin. He was “Pap-Pap” to his three grandchildren Katlynn; Jacob and Emily Whitaker; two step grandchildren Josh and “Heather” Spisak and Andrea Spisak; four step great-grandchildren Kyle; Adam; Mikyla; Aliyah; two sisters in law Mildred English and Leola Plubell. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal and was also a member of the Vestal B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #2508. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. Jack was a retired Grocery Store Manager from Loblaws, Great American and Triumph Markets. After retirement he worked at SUNY Binghamton. Jack was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Football fan. Prior to his stroke, Jack enjoyed being active at the Elks Club and playing Pitch and Texas Holdem. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Vestal Park for their compassionate care of our father over the past four years and to his long-time neighbor Dick Pesoncko for visiting him every Friday afternoon.
