Lawrence (Larry) Sariti, 81, formerly of Binghamton and Endicott since 1963, has entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from James G. Johnston Nursing Center, where he resided since 2010. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rita (Cannavino) Sariti in 1992, who he adored and cherished, a sister Mary Bassano and brother Sam Sariti. He is survived by two daughters and sons in law Karen and Vince Palmeri, Endwell and Laurie and John Thompson, Johnson City. Affectionately known as “Papeyo” to his three grandchildren Vincent; Jacob and Valerie. He was truly appreciated and blessed by their presence. Also surviving is his brother Joseph Sariti, Binghamton and two nephews Ted and Father Michael Bassano. Larry was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, and always loved the annual Feast Days, hanging out with his wife Rita’s Family, the Cannavino, Battaglini and Picciano families. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army, a retired IBM Corp. employee with over thirty years of dedicated service. Some of Larry’s enjoyments in life were watching the New York Yankees, Giants, B Mets, SUNY Bearcats, grandchildren’s sporting events, many walks with his “Mall Buddies” at the Oakdale Mall and always ready for a good laugh with the staff at James G. Johnston Nursing Center. Larry’s life will always be defined by love of family, honor and loyalty.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 11 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mary Knoll Missionary, 55 Ryder Road, Ossining, NY 10562, www.maryknollsociety.org.
