Margaret “Peg” Cady, 80, of Vestal passed away peacefully with her children by her side on May 17, 2017 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband Arvine Cady, son Jerry – her parents William and Marion Naylor and siblings Bill, Brad, Jack and Diane (Neeley). Also, son-in-law Dale Evans, brother-in-law Roland Cady, sister-in-law Fran Naylor and Aunt, Ann Bates. She is survived by her loving children: Marcia (Merlin) Lessler, Ray (Janet) Cady, Rich (Kris) Cady, Sharon (Jim) Evans-Smith. Grandchildren: Alicia & Zachary – Chad, Josh, Ashley & Brittany – Jessica & Luke – Brandon, Jared & Eric. Twelve great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law, Gloria Naylor & Marcie Cady. Several dear nieces and nephews. A special friend and companion Gerry Carey and her longtime neighborhood family. Peg was employed at the Vestal Nursing Center where she shared her joy of cooking and baking with the 180 residents. Peg’s greatest loves were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life revolved around them. She loved crocheting keepsake baby blankets for the newest additions to the family. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, taking in a stray cat and her spoiled canine love, Zoey. She could never pass up a good buy at a garage sale, especially if it was her favorite color, green. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and loved singing in the choir, quilting and preparing luncheons. Her family will truly miss her delicious home cooked meals and especially, her strawberry-rhubarb pies. The family would like to thank Drs. Steven and Lisa Hassig, Marita Florini and Lourdes Hospice and staff for their gentle care and kindness during her illness.
