Peggy Gioffre, 82,passed away peacefully at Lourdes Hospitalon Thursday morning, February 14, 2013 after a longillness with dementia. Peggy was born on December 30, 1930. She was predeceased by a daughter, Maria Gallo in 2004.She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Dominick Gioffre, who cared for her at home prior to her residency at Willow Point Nursing Home. She is also survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Pete Fanelli;two adoring sons, Anthony Gioffre and Patrick Gioffre; grandchildren, Elizabeth Gallo, Michael (Katlyn) Fanelli, Kristin (Kyle) Bowers, Teresa (Serge) Thys, Frank (Natalia) Gallo, Nicholas Fanelli, Gina Gioffre, Joseph Gioffre; great grandchildren, Mia Fanelli, Ava and Ella Bowers; sister, Rita Grogan, brother-in-law, Paul Scheiber; brothers-in-law, Joseph Gioffre, Saverio Gioffre; and many much loved neices, nephews, cousins; caring friends Marge Maciolek, Vinny Shattuck, Deb Scarsella, Shirley McCormick.Peggy is a retiree from IBM, Endicott; was a member of the St. Anne’s society at St. Anthony’s parish; and served as President of the Daughters of Columbus #1666 organization in Endicott and also as President of the Stella D’oro Lodge in Binghamton. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.Peggyenjoyed cooking for her family,was an avid reader, and was proud of her Irish heritage although very involved in the Italian community for various causes. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 12:30 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 1 pm. Burial will in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at Allen Memorial Home, Monday from 2-4 and evening 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to theAlzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association,or St.Anthony Food Pantry.”May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the rains fall soft upon your fields…and, until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand”
