Marieta L. McMillen passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023. She was born in Kansas City, Kansas, worked at Hallmark Cards for 5 years and then attended and graduated from Kansas University with a Masters in Education. She taught multiple grade levels, was the mother of two, one grandson, Grant and had twenty three foster children in Kansas. She moved to New York Southern Tier where she was an Adjunct Professor of Art at Davis College until she retired. She loved art, children, dogs, books, poetry, family and friends. Her smile lit up the room when she entered it. Her last years were at Ideal Senior Living in Endicott. She leaves her sister Carolyn M. Headrick, 3 nephews, Randall L. (Barbara), Ronald S. (Diana) and Roger C. (Loretta) Headrick and their children and grandchildren, son Wayne McMillen and sister-in-law Helen Lewis Spurgeon. She was predeceased by her parents, John S. and Dorothy L. Spurgeon, one son Jon Jason McMillen and her two brothers, John Dale and LeRoy W. Spurgeon.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Monday, February 20th at the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
