Martin J. Grab passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Lourdes Hospital after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his beautiful wife of 52 years, Helen and his son, Martin. He is survived by his brother, John, sons; Michael; Anthony; Andrew and daughter, Rebecca, grandchildren; Kristin; Matthew; Nathan; Anthony; Alec; Abigail; Trevor and Joey. He was born in Binghamton, NY of immigrant parents and was raised and resided in the First Ward for the first part of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre from which he received a Purple Heart. In the early 1950’s he was employed at the A&P Bakery in Columbus, OH, returning to the Binghamton area to work at Frank’s Body Shop and Endicott Johnson before becoming a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Johnson City, from which he retired after many years of service. He was devoted to his family and always put them first in his life. He had a strong work ethic which he instilled in his children and was a good friend to the many he knew. Interment will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 10 am until service time at 11 am.
