Surrounded by her loving family, Mary DiTommaso, 94, of Endwell, went home to her Lord on May 8,2010. The fourth oldest in a family of eleven children, Mary was born in Nicholson, PA, moving to Endicott when she was three. She was a homemaker, and a professional seamstress and hairdresser, operating her businesses from her home. She also worked at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company, and in local clothing shops. The two centers of her life were her family and her faith. Mary taught religion to the children of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, and enjoyed many parish social groups and events, including St. Anne Society, St. Anthony Field Days and a book discussion group. She participated in daily Mass and weekly Perpetual Adoration, was a Eucharistic minister and also brought Holy Communion to residents at The Waters Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Arthur, by her parents, Frank and Rose Stefano, her siblings Albert, Charles, Anthony, Alphonso and Lena, and her granddaughter Cara Mia. She is survived by her children Rosemarie (Francis) Grassi, Endicott, Barbara DiTommaso, Albany, Paulette (Richard) Sonner, Fairport, and Arthur DiTommaso, Phoenix AZ; her grandchildren Francis (Tracy), Christopher, Martin, Angelo (Paula), Michael, Christine, Elizabeth, and Gregory (Stephanie); her great-grandchildren Mark, Andrew, Alec, Jenna, Taylor, Katherine and Alison. Mary is also survived by her siblings Fred, John (Jeanette), Joseph and James Stevens; Margaret (Frank) Mistretta; and her brother in law, Leo (Julia) DiTommaso; as well as many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Perry and staff and Catherine Linehan for her excellent care of Mary for the last two years.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 11 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 306 Odell Avenue, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Wednesday from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to Catholic Relief Services, 209 West Fayette Street, Baltimore MD 21201-3443.
