Mary Ellen Cutler passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and M. Elizabeth Wallace, and her husband, Kevin L. Cutler, Sr. She is survived by her three children, Kristen (Jon) Lovesky, Jennifer (Brian) Greif, and Kevin (Abby) Cutler, Jr. She additionally leaves behind her granddaughters, Jessica, Erin, and Taylor Lovesky; Samantha and Rebekah Cohodas; and Bailee Cutler; and step-granddaughters, Alexandra and Rachel Greif. Mary Ellen was born in 1943 and raised in Utica, New York, graduating from Utica Free Academy. After high school, she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of St. Michael’s College at the University of Toronto and a Master of Science in botany from Syracuse University. Mary Ellen briefly lived in New Jersey while working in a lab studying muscular dystrophy before moving to Vestal to raise her family. Mary Ellen retired from Fahs Construction Group in 2015 where she worked in the accounting department. An avid sports fan her entire life, she enjoyed watching the Orangemen, Mets and Bills more regularly in retirement, and gardening and ornithology remained hobbies. Mary Ellen’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her granddaughters over the last three decades. She proudly read them books and attended their concerts, sporting events, graduations and celebrations.
The Family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, Wednesday from 4-6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2222 Genesee Street, Utica, NY. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY. Please consider a donation in Mary Ellen’s memory to the Broome County Humane Society.
