Mary Jane Poklemba, 96, passed away peacefully at Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal, NY (formally of Maine, NY) on Friday, November 24, 2023. She is survived three sons, Frederick and Roberta Poklemba, Deposit, Michael and Teresa Poklemba, Lisle, and Charles and Shelley Poklemba, Aurora; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her loving husband, George Poklemba, Jr.; her two sons, Martin Poklemba and George Poklemba, III and her daughter, Delores Darrow. Mary worked for many years at E.J. and that is where she met her love, George. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Maine, NY. Mary enjoyed square dancing with George. Mary was well-known for homemade soup on Sundays and Kolache cookies during the holidays. If you stepped into her kitchen, it was your fault if you left hungry.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, 2596 Main St., Maine, N.Y. The family will welcome friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the Mass at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Willow Point Memorial Fund in memory of Mary J. Poklemba.
