Michael J. Donegan, 84, of Endicott passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, June 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Cecelia (Beck) Donegan, his sister, Sister Doris Marie, C.R.S.M. and his brother James Donegan. He is survived by his college sweetheart Joan (McCoy) Donegan. They just celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his four daughters and sons in law Sharon Donegan, Patricia and Philip Matruski, Michelle and Steven Griffiths and Karen Donegan; one son and daughter in law Michael J. and Margaret Donegan, Jr.; eight grandchildren Carrie and Rory Driscole, Kelly and Jamie Tersigni, Ryan and Mark Matruski and Abby, Tim and Amy Griffiths; three sisters and brothers in law Jeanne and Milton Stemler, Patricia Wetzel, Marie and John Dryer; three brothers and sisters in law Robert and Mary Ellen Donegan, Joseph Donegan and Bernard and Mary Donegan; numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott. Mike was retired from I.B.M Corporation as a Senior Engineer in Thermal Design. He graduated from Penn State University in 1957 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Roanoke CL-145, and was a member of Knights of Columbus #1839 of Endicott. Mike’s passion was Penn State football. The family wishes to thank John Wacendak, M.D. and Paul Hicks, M.D. for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, at 10 am. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 4-7 pm.
