Monroe, my buddy, my dear, dear pal. I love and miss you. Girls, you and your mom have my heartfelt condolances. I have known your dad since IBM transferred me to Endicott in 1984. I worked for your Uncle Dan. Our team would go out for Speedies and beer (wine!) every so often and your dad would join us. When I transferred to Florida and then Atlanta your dad and I continued to keep in touch. It was such a treat when I got an email from him or a phone call. Over the years we talked about my life, my sons, his Pat, his brothers, you girls, and his grandchildren. We talked about vacations, weddings, old colleagues, Disney, his Florida swims, volunteer work, his illnesses, and NY. I felt so accomplished when I could make him laugh and we surely laughed and laughed! He was my confidant and best long-distance friend. Rest in our sweet Lord's arms, my dear friend. I know He's happy to have you back home and you had The Best birthday in Heaven! You know your girls will take good care of Pat and that gives you great comfort. I will miss you forever, my dear friend. XOXO

Our condolences on the passing of your dad. When I saw the photo of your father it brought back memories of growing up on the Southside… how fortunate we were to have parents like Monroe and Pat, the Manni’s, Browns, ODay’s, DePalmo’s, Foxes etc… that were truly good people that raised great families. Our thoughts are with you! Steve

Our deepest condolences to Pat and the Grassi family. I remember Monroe helping us out all the time on various projects, whether it was my Dad trying to fix his car in the freezing weather or helping us finish the basement, we learned a great deal from him. He had a genuine interest in my sister and me and always took the time to chat with us. And we had some great times with the whole Grassi family. Love, PJ and Jeanette O'Malley

My deepest sympathy to the entire Grassi family over the loss of such a great, kind, and always smiling man! We were always thrilled when my parents would tell us, "The Grassi's are coming up," which would mean all the girls as well... May the Lord comfort you with His presence as only He can, and trust the Scripture that says, "The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned." Psalm 34:22

I loved that every time Monroe spoke to the kids he took a knee.... Looked them in the eye like what they were saying was all that mattered in that moment. Thank you for giving Logan the first book he ever learned to read, and listening to him on your patio as he gave you his phases of the moon science experiment and entertained you at dinner with his piano concerts...you made everyone around you feel so welcome and special... And i am so fortunate they and we got to love you for the past 6 years.

Barbara White left a message on October 6, 2023:
Monroe held such a special place in our hearts. He was a friend of my late father-in-law when he came to PA to hunt. He was a good friend to my late husband during his illness, and remained a friend to my children and myself throughout the years. Every year on my late husband’s birthday he reached out via email to say he was thinking of us. This was 13 years that he did this. His love of Pat and his daughters and their families was so apparent. As recently as a month ago, he reached out to my daughter asking how she was. She did not respond, she was going through a difficult life event, it was like he had a sixth sense. The world will certainly miss Monroe, but we are so honored to have known and loved him. Prayers to the family.
