Sonny Garner left a message on March 16, 2021:
I met and served with Paul in Vietnam. His sarcasm sure helped create our bond. I saw Paul for the first time since then several years ago at a Vietnam reunion and it seemed like no time had passed since we were on that hill together. His personality had not changed from the first time I had met him and that is what made Paul such a special person. We have stayed in touch since and I was so saddened by his passing. He will be sorely missed by our whole group and never forgotten. Our sympathy and prayers are with his family. As he would sign his emails to me: Forever my dear friend. Rest in peace brother Sonny (& Toiya) Garner

“God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)
Michael Conard left a message on March 15, 2021:
My condolence to the Family. My name is Mike Conard. Paul and I were on the same team #1 gun 4.2 motor in 69-70 on LZ Professional. I'm not sure if Paul had talked about how he received the Purple Heart. It was early morning on May 22. We were getting pounded by incoming rounds and a attemped ground attacked. Through the mayhem a rocket hit our hooth. By the grace of God and his Angels most of us received some wounds and unfortuately some 2 died. In the past 18 years we have holding a reunion and Paul had manage to attend a couple of them. We were planning another reunion in May which I was hopeful for Paul would be there in Pigeion Forge. As a good friend to Paul he will be missed. If any family member would like to talk to me my phone is 309 734 5332. I live in Monmouth, Il

I remember Paul from Vietnam. I think we were over there pretty much the same time - late 1968 to late 1969. Don't know how old Paul was then, but I think we were all 18 to 22. Friendly, smiling guy. Very sharp mind. Kind of a joker who could dish it out as well as he took it. I was and am also a Friend of Bill - 33 years, one day at a time. RIP brother Paul. Thank you for your service.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

As fellow travelers on life’s uncharted course, Paul guided others with great care, humility, and compassion. He modeled the playbook and lifted up so many. I am grateful for the friendship we shared through the years. Sincere condolences to the family.
