Regina M. (Sammons) Fries, age 97, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Regina was born in Towanda, PA on September 8, 1918 to the late Charles and Josephine (Kelly) Sammons. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; grandson, Jake Fries; sons-in-law, Mike Flynn and Bob Palmatier; all nine of her siblings and their spouses Mary (Jim) Beirne, Agnes (Dick) McMahon, Sr. Teresa Joseph R.S.M., Sr. Mary Jude R.S.M., Charles (Kitty), Rita (Walt) Marlowe, Josephine (Harold) Foster, Reverend Joseph Sammons and Paul. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Joyce, Bill and Diane, Joe and Debby; three daughters and two sons-in law, Peggy Flynn and Bill Decker, Mary Ellen Palmatier, Kathy and Dan Lane. Cherished grandmother of John (Jeanine), Jeff (Amy), Jim (Megan), Susan (Ross), Shawn, Tessa Fries; Dan (Erin), Matt (Eileen), Michael (Jamie) Flynn; Matt and Megan Lane; Carrie Wilson; Mike (Diane) Palmatier; Kelly (Matt) Stec, Christa (Dan) Jones, Jessica (Mike) Corcoran, Sarah (Sean) O’Connor and Kristen (Matt) Benoit. Treasured great grandma to thirty great grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews. Regina was a long time member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society. She was a Registered Nurse serving in W.W. II, enlisting in the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant. She was stationed in Puerto Rico for several months and was a First Lieutenant at the time of her honorable relief from active duty in December 1945.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 11:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday from 10-11 am. Expressions of sympathy in Regina’s memory may be made to OLGC or to the charity of one’s choice.
