Richard “Dick” Emil Grundhofer, of Vestal , passed away at his residence, Sunday, May 7, 2017 after an extended illness. He was predeceased by his father, Eduard Franz Grundhoeffer and mother, Emily Steiss Grundhofer; siblings, Karl Grundhofer, Doris Gillingham, and Arnold McGill; and daughter Debra Lee Antes. He is survived by a daughter, Lori Grundhofer Mayer, Havertown, PA; Grandchildren, Heather Mayer Connelly (Owen), Nottingham, PA, and Stephen Richard Mayer, Phoenixville, PA; Step-daughters Sarah Arber, New Jersey and Beth Arber, Florida, along with his companion Martha Kachmar, Vestal, NY. He was in the Marine Reserves; Forks of the Delaware Historical Arms Society, and various antique gun collectors organizations. Retired from State Farm Insurance as an executive in the automobile claims adjustment office. Longtime member of the NRA. He was also a former member of the Tonawanda Sportsmans Club in Tonawanda, NY. Mr. Grundhofer graduated from Pennsylvania State University from the Forestry Program and was an Assistant District Forester of various divisions in eight counties in West Virginia State Forestry division before going to State Farm Insurance. His interests included hunting, fishing, canoeing, and hiking. He had a long time love of training, raising, and hunting with his German short haired pointers. Born in Abington, PA, he grew up in South Charleston, WV and continued working in the Forestry Division in WV for a number of years.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 2 pm from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 12 pm until service time at 2 pm.
