Our dear friend Robert G. Dealaman passed away unexpectedly on April 25, 2018 at his home at Good Shepherd Village on the land where he was born and where he hoped to die. His life was one of great accomplishments. Bob was born on May 9, 1943 to Harry E. and Olive J. Dealaman who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brother Harry. Bob graduated from Wyoming Seminary and Broome Technical Community College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1966 he joined LINK Aviation, in Binghamton, NY now L-3 LINK Simulation and Training. He retired from LINK in 2001 as Manager of Facilities after a long and distinguished career. Bob’s greatest passion in life was his commitment to the Boy Scouts of America, especially the Baden Powell Council. Having been a Boy Scout as a youth, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout and continued his life- long service to the Scouting organization on local, regional and national levels until his last days. He was proud to have attained many recognitions including the highest National Scouting honor of the Silver Buffalo in 2017. Bob continued to work at the Baden Powell Council office twice a week until just last week. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Endicott, NY where he served as deacon, elder and sang in the choir. His service to his church was an important part of his faith. Bob was instrumental in the creation of Good Shepherd Village at Endwell through his generous donation of the land that had been in his family for generations and where he attained the title of “Unofficial Mayor”. Bob is survived by many dear friends throughout the Scouting organization, at his church and at Good Shepherd Village at Endwell, especially his dearest friends, Beverly Scudder and Marilyn Myers, who were his family. He will also be missed by his dining table mates.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, the Corner of Grant and Monroe Street, Endicott, NY. Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 am, with funeral services to follow. Reverend Janice Devine and Monsignor James Lang of the Syracuse Diocese will officiate. Per Bob’s wishes, in lieu of flowers kindly consider donations to either to Baden Powell Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2150 NYS Route12, Binghamton, NY 13901 or Good Shepherd Communities Foundation, 32 Village Drive, Endwell, NY 13760.
