So sorry for your family's loss. Roy surprised us with beautiful champagne flutes to celebrate our home purchase. It was a thoughtful, perfect gift. He was a pleasure to work with and will be missed.

My earliest memories of Roy were his love for his family, the bond between him and Gregg. What always stood out was Roy’s intelligence, fortitude, strength of character. In high school, I actually always imagined he would become a very successful lawyer. At his core I saw kindness and and a great capacity to be loved. Gregg, and the Cordero family, my heart breaks for you. I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember Roy with fondness and I pray he is resting in eternal peace. I will keep you all in my prayers.

I am so saddened by this news.. My grandson played on "Coach Roy's" soccer and baseball teams for years.. The players all loved and respected him as did all the parents.. Roy was unbelievably generous to those kids, and I have personally experienced it.. can;t go into full detail, but I will say his generosity was far far beyond what anyone could have expected from a kids sport coach. Every time i approached him to pay fees for registration, uniforms, etc, he would say, don't worry about it, some other time, its all taken care of,etc... I knew he was covering it.. When colby outgrew one of his baseball bats, Roy called and asked if my grandson could use it, I accepted with thanks..This was an extremely expensive, top of the line bat that could have been sold for a substantial sum, but Roy just gave it to a little kid instead.. I have other examples of this sort of thing that Roy did routinely , that I won't reveal, and will just say that everyone that knew him will miss him a great deal, and all the kids he's coached, mentored and cared about will remember him fondly. My heart aches for his family. Rest in peace Coach Roy.....

We are so very sorry to hear of Roy's passing. We remember him for his warmth and humor, and have lovely memories of he and Gregg as young boys when they lived next door. Deepest sympathies and prayers to the family.

Roy was our broker when we bought a home in 2012. We had only known him through that time, yet there was something about him that left us remembering him fondly from then on. He gave us excellent advice, welcomed us to contact him any time, and confidently coached us through. He was warm and funny, and we were so grateful to work with someone so motivated and full of personality. He made us feel welcomed in like forever friends. We can only imagine how much he was loved by all who are close to him. He leaves priceless footprints in the world. Sending heartfelt condolences to all.

It is with great sadness to learn of your loss. This young man left a lasting impression on me and was a dear friend of my daughter's in high school--as he was to many. Roy was a soft soul who helped kick off the AYSC-Amsterdam Youth Soccer Club in 1990 under the coaching of Willie Montero and with the help of his Dad. Roy further extended himself to Referee the younger players and also coach the Soccer Buddies. I am sure he matured into a wonderful human being and this world has grown a little dimmer without his light. Please accept our deepest respect and condolences.

To the Cordero Family I just wanted to share a few memories I have of my Big hearted friend Roy: I had just met the absolute love of my life. The first person I wanted her to meet was Roy. I drove to his office parked in front of the door and introduced him to Nichole. When I told him I bought her a ring but I was $400.00 short to buy her the ring I really wanted. He asked why didn’t I tell him because he would have made sure I got her the ring I really wanted. I was just a young father 20 years old, a student at BU and no clue what the future would hold. I would share things going on in my life with him because he always seemed to care. I remember telling him my family felt I was starting a family too early and that I was throwing my education away. NOT Roy he said “this is not right, this is something that we are going to celebrated.” He made reservations at Number5 in Binghamton. He ordered wine, we talked and enjoyed each others company. He was the first person in my life that celebrated the birth of my daughter Ciera. A night I am forever grateful for and hold close to my heart. A favor I was able to repay in celebration of the birth of his son. I morn the loss of Roy. I will never forget him I will hold and cherish these memories. He will be deeply missed. Much love Cody Emerick

I first met Roy when he was a student at BU and he started his mortgage career with Beneficial/ HFC. He was a 19/20 year old kid who became my “work kid”, friend and eventually my boss for many years in our business venture at A Choice Funding. We were the show “The Office” where every day was a day to look forward to because we had so much fun working together and shared so many laughs but were also highly dysfunctional and had to deal with the difficult and hard times too. Roy was always a hard worker, with a mind full of many ideas and plans. He had a good heart and always tried his best in what he did in trying to help people as they bought their home or built their business. What impressed me the most was seeing Roy as a Dad and seeing how much love he had for his children and his quiet and calmness with them. I have also had the opportunity to watch him on the baseball field and had a new admiration for him and his style as a coach. His patience and his ability to teach them the game was really something to watch. It was a bond between he and Colby that was truly a joy for me to observe. It also was something my grandson got to experience for the last several years and it made me happy to see a fourth generation, in my family, have a relationship with my “work kid”. To say we are heartbroken is an understatement but we are more devastated by what Beth, Colby, Charlee and Roy and Beth’s families have lost. I pray that time brings some healing to their broken hearts but also know it is a long road. To my “work kid” I will miss seeing you and your smile and having a little catch up before a game. I will always smile when I think of all the fun we had together over so many years. You knew how I felt about you and I knew how you felt about me. That never changed after all these years. You were one of a kind and I will truly miss you!

Roy, was my colleague and best of friends. I worked with Roy in the mortgage business for 20 years and we were a team the last five years. He was one of a kind to say the least. One of the funniest people I knew and had a heart of gold. He was one of the hardest working people I knew and made me a better person because of it. I don’t have the words at this moment to express my condolences enough to his family. Losing someone like Roy in a time when we need people like him the most will be the toughest part for me to understand. He just made me smile and I will always remember him and his amazing charisma. I pray Beth, the kids and family can find peace. I will always hold a place in my heart for this amazing man.
