Susan (Sue) Hentosh Malone – 98, of Binghamton, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 16, 2016, after a brief illness. Sue was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Burton Malone, and their eldest daughter Susan C. Malone. Also predeceased by her brothers: Michael, Charles, John, Daniel and Joseph Hentosh. She is survived by her sister, Betty Souchak (Harry), Levittown, PA; her children, Donna Grad (Frank), Rochester, NY; John Malone (Donna), Orlando, FL; Ann White (Billy), Okeechobee, FL; Sharon Malone (Lou Francavillo, Jr.), Binghamton, NY; and her grandchildren: Kyle and Cory Malone, Adam White, Addie and Erin McKim, Mike Francavillo and daughter Isabel, and Matt Francavillo. Sue was a devout Catholic and had been an active member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church. She was proud to be a veteran of WWII, having served in the Navy as a Wave, where she met her husband. Sue was extremely devoted to her family and made a career of loving and caring for her children and grandchildren. Sue’s Ukrainian heritage was one of the things she celebrated most, and she referred to herself often as a “Ukey”. Her pierogi and halupki were hard to beat! Sue loved being called “Baba’ by her grandchildren and anyone else who wanted to call her that! She left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and will be remembered for her feisty personality and amazing resilience, right up to the end. Special thanks to Dr. John Perry for his genuine compassion, care and personal attention for decades… and Jennifer Hopkins, for giving Sue love, understanding, a warm and caring home, and lots of laughs. Sue’s willfulness will continue to resonate and keep smiles on all of our faces. God bless you. We will miss you.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 8:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church at 9:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Sue’s memory may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 91 Owego Street, Cortland, NY 13045 or www.dav.org/donate.
