Thomas R. Diorio, 68, of Owego died unexpectedly Thursday, January 8, 2015. He is predeceased by his father Philip Diorio Sr., mother, Mary (Milazzo) Diorio Stanton, stepfather Robert Stanton Sr., infant son Mitchell, and nephew Tommy Diorio. He is survived by his beloved wife Becky (Owego), son Daric T. Diorio (Endicott), two daughters and sons-in-law, Ivy (Matthew) Levinson (Cornwall, NY), Maia (Bryant) Henson (Winter Garden, Fla.); Two brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Katie) Diorio, Vestal, Philip (Lennie) Diorio, Vestal; five grandchildren, Eleora Marina And Viviana Rose Levinson, Reya Elizabeth and Bryce Cooper Henson, and Kaia Lynn Diorio. Many beloved nieces and nephews and cousins including two very special cousins with whom he grew up and shared his love of music; Russ and Louis Melazzo; mother in law Josephine Picciano (Endicott); sister in law Colleen Becker (Endicott). Tom had a great love for sports participating in wrestling first as a member of the Union-Endicott Tigers class of ’64 and then as a two-time state collegiate champion at Oswego State. If you knew him as a wrestler then you’ll be familiar with him reminding you “Ya know, I was seeded second in the NCAA’s…” He also loved skiing, golfing, and karate, and he had a great passion for music and playing the guitar. After graduating from Oswego State University he taught in both Vestal and Johnson City and coached wrestling. After teaching he went into a career in sales including co-owner of Binghamton Sun-Ray heating, several Insurance agencies and at the time of passing he was a member of the KC Construction sales team. He loved his children and grandchildren and did everything for them. They will miss his guitar playing, sing-a-longs, and dancing. He never missed his Thursday night Karaoke singing with all his pals. He loved meeting and connecting with new people. Tom was the life of every party. His star shined bright in life and will be shining brightly throughout eternity. The family would like to thank the fire department and the EMS in Campville, NY.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 11 am from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with Reverend Pat Truesdale officiating. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell. So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Tom was my big brother while pledging DKK fraternity in 1968 at Oswego. He was a great guy and always very supportive. I later roomed with his cousin Louie and another state wrestling champion and all-american Ralph Pizzo. Will always remember the great times together at Oswego and will keep you in my prayers. Rest in peace big brother.
