Walter Rutkowski, 98, of Maine passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 after living a full and happy life. Walter was born on August 28, 1924 in Endicott, New York. Walter was predeceased by his wife Bertha (Cenova) of 66 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Kazimera Rutkowski, his brothers Joseph, Janus, Ted, sister Irene Deforest, and granddaughter Catherine (Rutkowski) Bernardo. He is survived by sons, David (Helen), of Endicott, Michael (Patricia) of Pittsburgh, PA and Daniel (Kathy Wallace), of Newark Valley. Cherished and beloved grandfather of 9 grandchildren, David W. (Melissa) Rutkowski, Jr. of Endicott, Joseph (Carrie) Rutkowski of Newark Valley, Patrick Rutkowski of Endicott, Colleen (Jason) Tyler of Pittsburgh, Michael (Kelly) Rutkowski of Pittsburgh, Jaclyn Rutkowski of Pittsburgh, Matthew (Jamie) Rutkowski of North Carolina, Thaddeus (Katie) Rutkowski of Kentucky and Elizabeth Rutkowski of Syracuse. He is survived by 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Walter was one of the founding fathers of Maine Little League. Walter’s career included years at Endicott Johnson, Don Owen Pontiac, and finally retired from Liberty Mutual after many years of service. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, embroidery and Sunday dinners and holidays with his family. Walter was a World War II veteran.
Friends and relatives will be received at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 Main Street, Endicott, NY from 4-7 PM on Wednesday. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM in Maine Cemetery in Maine, NY.
