Robert Fairbrother, 91, of Vestal, passed away peacefully December 6, 2023. He was born August 8, 1932 to Raymond and Esther (Gardner) Fairbrother in Endicott, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Jean (Robert) Dolan, and brother Jack. Robert is survived by his wife Rose, sons, Robert (Kathy), Michael (Angela), Thomas, and Richard. Grandchildren, Jay (Laura), Brent (Ruth), Kimberly (Kyle) Terry, Angela (Adam) Di Zenzo, Katie, and Mandy Fairbrother. Great Grandchildren, Claire, Natalie, Jack, Drew, Rose, Mabel, Owen, and Emma. Sister in-law Catherine Testani, and several nieces and nephews and close friends he greatly cherished. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army, retired from IBM, and taught Fly Fishing at Binghamton University for ten years. Bob’s humor with the cartoon characters he frequently drew, along with the artistry of the watercolors he painted, touched and influenced his Fly-fishing, skiing, hunting, golfing, and affinity of cars, but more importantly shaped his sons and the love for his wife, Rose.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-6 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott.
A Prayer Service will be held at 6 pm. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Mercy House of the Southern Tier, St Jude, Pheasants Forever or Trout Unlimited.
