George “Bud” Brown, Jr., 89 of Schenectady, NY, went to be with God, as well as family and friends who passed before him, on Sunday, August 21, 2022. He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Carol (Murphy) Brown; son, Gary Brown; parents, George and Dorothy Brown; brothers, Howard (Trix) Brown, David (Ida) Brown; and brother-in-law, Robert (Helen) Murphy. He is survived by his daughter Susan (Brown) Gushlaw; nephew, Thomas (Sue) Brown; nieces Kristina (Anthony Barone) Brown, Cherie (Andrew) Vodopia, Lisa (Frank) Opper; as well as numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends. He will also be sorely missed by his beloved grand-dog, Max. Born in Binghamton, NY, he was a graduate of Binghamton Central High School and Rochester Institute of Technology. He was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corp serving as a helicopter mechanic in the Korean War. He spent his career using his gift of design in various drafting and design engineering positions. Later in life he volunteered his time at the American Legion Post 89 in Vestal eventually rising to the rank of Post Commander. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing poker, gardening, cooking, home repair, and spending time with friends and family. He had the gift of humor and was a great conversationalist. Most of all, he was a devoted husband and father. He will be incredibly missed by those he leaves behind. Special thanks to Elderwood Village of Colonie where he spent his last couple of years being looked after by the incredible and caring staff, as well as his physician Dr. Lev Barats. Thank you also to the Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing for making him comfortable in his final days.
