Chester B. Deering, 87, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.He was pre-deceased by his wife, Jennie and his son, Danny.He is survived by a daughter and son in law, Deborah and Herman Haggenmiller, Penfield, NY, a son and daughter in law, Thomas and Donna Deering, Cortland, NY, three grandchildren; Brian and Lori Haggenmiller, Robert and Jennifer Deering and Melissa and Nathan Whidden, 2 great grandchildren, Amanda Haggenmiller and Ryan Whidden.He is also survived by a special niece, Barbara Pitcher and several other nieces and nephews.Chester was retired from IBM in Endicott after 38 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a W.W.II Veteran serving with the U.S. Navy and was a member of American Legion Post 1700, Endicott.He was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels and was an avid golfer and dancer. Funeral Services will be held Sunday 3 pm at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Sunday from 1 pm until service time at 3 pm.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Chester’s name may be made to the Union Volunteer Emergency Squad, 8 South Avenue B, Endwell, NY13762-8626 or Meals on Wheels of Western Broome, 705 West Main Street, Endicott, NY 13760.The Deering family wishes to thank the staff at both Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and the Ideal Senior Living Center for their care and concern.
