Edward Lewis Stratton, 88, of Endwell passed away peacefully Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Good Shepherd Village. Edward Lewis Stratton, 88, of Endwell passed away peacefully Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Good Shepherd Village. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Fredrika and his brother, Leslie Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anne (Nancy) Stratton; four children, Edward (Janice) Stratton of Newburgh, IN, Lee (Mary Beth) Stratton of Ashburn, VA, Jane (Lionel) Talbot of Endwell, NY, Mary (Rick) Turi of Fishkill, NY; thirteen grandchildren, Meghan Stratton, Michael, Billy, Catherine, Tommy, Jimmy and Mary Stratton, Katie and Brian Talbot, Kristen, Michael, Steven, and Kevin Turi; sister, Jean Stratton of Princeton, NJ as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born on July 11, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, he graduated from Mamaroneck High School in Mamaroneck, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy after which he earned a B.A. in English from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT. In 1947, he joined IBM Corporation in New York City where he enjoyed a sales, marketing and education management career for 37 years during which he and his family lived in Manhattan, New City, NY, Ridgewood, NJ and Endwell, NY. He also maintained a summer residence in Milford, PA for many years. In retirement, he resumed his avid interest in tennis. He also was active in community organizations having served as Campaign Chairman of the United Way of Broome County, an Executive Board member of the Susquenango Council, Boy Scouts of America and Life Member of the American Legion Post 139 in Milford, PA.Funeral Service Tuesday at 11am from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with the Reverend Father Clarence Rumble, Pastor of Church of the Holy Family officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Monday evening from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the United Way of Broome County, 101 Jenson Road, Vestal, NY 13850
