Evelyn Marie Conroy, 96, Riverview, Fl. previously of Vestal, NY died May 5,2023 .Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Cyril E. Conroy. Born in Canastota, NY she was the daughter of the late Mabel E Wells.
She is survived by her children Gary (LuAnn) of Vestal, Robert of Riverview, Fl, and Debora Tichy (Donald) of Ruskin, Fl. She was known to the grand children as Namie and they will also miss her. Jason(Mary Lynn), Heather ( Benjamin ) , Heidi, Brandon (Kenzie), Mary Kate (Justin), Shannon (Dany) ,Morgan (Jorey). Many great grand children Amanda, Ashlie, Colin, Jackson, Tyler, Ella, Audrey, Josiah, Sierra, Vicky, Benjamin, Abigail, Jaylen, Reylynn. She also had many nephews, nieces and a God-Daughter who she loved very much Susan Conroy Lund .
Evelyn loved working for the Vestal School system as a paraprofessional. She loved her students and was very proud of her “quiet” study halls. She loved doing crossword puzzles, crypto-quotes, reading the morning paper to those willing to listen, crocheting, reading a good Danielle Steele novel she just couldn’t put down, going an trying her luck on a slot machine at the nearest casino, a good breakfast with a hot cup of coffee (half n half + 2 Splendas), an ice cold beer (sometimes 2), and having a great time out to dinner surrounded by her friends and family. She had many life long friends in NY and Florida who will miss her dearly.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am, Friday, May 19th at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511– 513 East Main Street, Endicott, Thursday, May 18th from 4 to 6 pm. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
