Rosaleen Eithne Marion (née Rafter) 80, returned to the arms of her loving family in Heaven, June 23, 2018. Born in Dublin, Ireland, July 14, 1937, to Florence and Henry Rafter, she came to the United States with her US airman husband, Joseph J. Marion and settled in the Binghamton area. They raised five children together; Joseph, Brian, Rosaleen, Maureen Stroka (David), Kathleen Kobylak (Bill.) Rosaleen was a longtime employee of IBM Endicott and enjoyed competing in their bowling and pistol leagues. After retiring from IBM, she was an active volunteer with Danielle House, LOCA, Church of the Holy Family Altar Society and also was highly involved with the Action for Older Persons Ombudsman Program. She was well known at the Endwell Senior Center where she met friends for Tai Chi, coffee and conversation. She spent several years caring for her husband, Joe, after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and when he eventually needed skilled facility care, she visited him daily, often spending the night to help him feel safe and connected. We were amazed at her devotion and when her own health began to suffer we did our best to return to her the kind care she had so selflessly extended. She loved her grandchildren; Ebony, Kelly, Lynn, Caite, Anna, Noah, Henry, Hannah and Sean, and her great-grandchildren; Kylie Rose, Andrea, Maddie Mae, Rae Lyn, Brynn, and Marzia. Rosaleen was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joseph J., sisters and brothers; Phyllis Laverick, Florence Rafter, Wynn Gibney, Michael, Tony, Jimmy, and Harry Rafter and granddaughter, Hannah Marion.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:30 am from the Allen Memorial Home 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at Church of the Holy Family at 10 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Wednesday from 4-6 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Transfiguration Monastery 701 NY Route 79, Windsor, NY 13865.
