William M. “JR” Teegarden, 88, of Endwell, NY rode his final trail ride to heaven on Sunday morning, August 5, 2012 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Andrew Shuman. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Rose L. Teegarden; his parents Chester and Lodema Teegarden; three siblings Mary T. Holder, Robert Teegarden, JohnTeegarden; and one nephew Michael Teegarden. JR is survived by his daughters Nancy Ann (Andrew) Shuman, Vestal, NY; Rosanne (Hollen) Groff, Niskayuna, NY; Suzanne Mastrogiacomo, Endwell, NY; Betsy Ann (James) Musshafen, Scottsville, NY;his son William John (Joan) Teegarden, Kirkwood, NY;his wonderful grandchildren Katherine Helen Shuman, Christopher William Musshafen, Hollen Matthew Groff, Mariel Elizabeth Musshafen, Gina Rose Mastrogiacomo, Colin Robert Teegarden; his nephew John (Nancy) Teegarden; and Joyce Teegarden. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy as an Electronic Technician’s Mate 2nd Class on the staff of Admiral Clark aboard the CV-12 USS Hornet, Flagship Carrier Force, in seven major battles in the South Pacific. A graduate of Cornell University in 1952, he was a licensed professional electrical engineer for General Electric, McFarland Johnson, and retired from NYSEG. He was an avid NY Yankees fan, amateur videographer, ham radio operator, loved classic convertibles, and at the age of 74 started horseback riding, enjoying many years at Eaton’s Ranch in Wolf, Wyoming riding his favorite horse Donahue. On August 10, 2012, the family will receive friends at Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY, from 11am to 12:15 pm; a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm at Church of the Holy Family, Endwell, NY; and entombment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, NY.
